When you rent a speedboat in Dubrovnik, you unlock the Croatian coastline like nothing else can. The wind in your hair, the spray of the Adriatic, and dozens of islands within easy reach — this is what a Dubrovnik summer is all about.
At RentBoatDubrovnik.com, speedboats are our specialty. Our fleet includes five purpose-built speedboats ranging from the nimble Barracuda 530 to the powerful Quicksilver 805 SD. In this guide, we’ll help you choose the perfect speed boat for your Dubrovnik adventure and show you exactly how to plan an unforgettable island-hopping day.
Why Choose a Speedboat for Dubrovnik?
Dubrovnik’s magic lies in its islands. Lokrum, Koločep, Lopud, Šipan — each offers something different, and they’re spread across 25 kilometers of coastline. A speedboat lets you visit multiple islands in a single day.
Speedboat advantages:
- Speed: Cover more distance in less time. Reach the Elafiti Islands in 20–30 minutes instead of 90+ by ferry.
- Flexibility: Go where you want, when you want. No ferry schedules, no tour groups.
- Access: Reach hidden beaches and coves that ferries can’t access.
- Thrill: There’s nothing quite like opening up the throttle on the open Adriatic.
- Efficiency: Visit 3–4 islands in a single day easily.
For island hopping around Dubrovnik, a speedboat isn’t just an option — it’s the best option.
Complete Speedboat Fleet — Specs, Prices & Best Uses
We have five speedboats available for rent in Dubrovnik. Here’s everything you need to know about each:
1. Barracuda 530 — The Agile Starter
| Length | 5.30 meters |
| Capacity | 5 persons |
| Engine | 80 HP outboard |
| Top Speed | ~25 knots |
| Price | €180/day |
Best for: Couples, small groups, first-time speedboat renters
The Barracuda 530 is our entry-level speedboat, but don’t let that fool you. With 80 HP, it’s quick enough to reach any island while being forgiving for less experienced boaters. Its compact size makes docking and anchoring easy in tight spots.
Ideal itinerary: Lokrum → Koločep → Blue Cave (half-day focus)
2. Barracuda 545 — The Versatile Mid-Size
| Length | 5.45 meters |
| Capacity | 6 persons |
| Engine | 100 HP outboard |
| Top Speed | ~28 knots |
| Price | €250/day |
Best for: Friend groups, day-long island hopping
A bit more space and power than the 530, the Barracuda 545 handles open water confidently. The extra 20 HP makes a noticeable difference when you’re loaded with passengers and gear.
Ideal itinerary: Full Elafiti Islands circuit (Koločep, Lopud, Šipan)

| Price | €300/day |
Best for: Comfort seekers, experienced boaters, longer distances
The Quicksilver 675 is where speedboat rental in Dubrovnik gets serious. With 150 HP and a deep-V hull, this boat handles waves beautifully and cruises at speed all day without fatigue. Spacious deck, comfortable seating, and storage for a proper picnic.
Ideal itinerary: Elafiti Islands + Cavtat in one day

Island-Hopping Itinerary: One Perfect Day by Speedboat
Here’s the exact route our co-founder Mislav recommends when guests ask how to spend a full day with a speedboat in Dubrovnik:
08:30 — Depart Marina Frapa
Start early to beat the heat and crowds. We’ll brief you on the boat, local waters, and weather conditions. Coffee at the marina cafe first if you need it.
09:00 — Lokrum Island (Quick Stop)
15 minutes from the marina. Circle Lokrum for photos of the Old Town walls from the sea, but don’t anchor yet — you’ll hit it on the way back when it’s less crowded.
09:30 — Koločep Island & Blue Cave
30 minutes from Lokrum. Koločep is the closest Elafiti island and home to the Blue Cave. Arrive before 11 AM when the light is best. Anchor in one of the small bays, swim, snorkel, explore.
11:30 — Lopud Island & Šunj Beach
20 minutes from Koločep. Lopud has the famous Šunj Beach — the only sandy beach in the area. Anchor offshore, swim to the beach, have an early lunch at one of the waterfront restaurants. This is the best place to relax for 2–3 hours.
14:30 — Šipan Island
25 minutes from Lopud. The largest and quietest Elafiti island. Anchor in Šipanska Luka bay, explore the old village, or just float in the calm, uncrowded water.
16:30 — Return via Dubrovnik Old Town
Take the scenic route back, cruising along the city walls. The afternoon light on the Old Town is spectacular. If you have energy, stop at Lokrum now when the day-trippers have left.
18:00 — Return to Marina Frapa
You’ll have covered 40+ kilometers, visited 4 islands, and experienced a full day of Adriatic perfection.
Best speedboat for this itinerary: Quicksilver 675 (€300) for 4–6 people, or Quicksilver 755 SD (€400) for 7–9 people.
Do You Need a License to Rent a Speedboat in Dubrovnik?
Yes — all our speedboats require a valid boating license. Croatian maritime law mandates a license for any boat with an engine over 5 HP, and our speedboats range from 80 to 300 HP.
Accepted licenses include:
- International Certificate of Competence (ICC)
- RYA Day Skipper or above
- US Coast Guard license
- Any EU-recognized recreational boating license
- Croatian Voditelj brodice
No license? Two options:
1. Hire a skipper — We provide experienced local skippers for €100–€150/day who know every hidden beach and the best anchoring spots.
2. Choose a no-license boat — Our Pasara (€150) and Tiburon 180 (€200) require no license. They’re not speedboats, but they’re perfect for Lokrum and nearby coves.
See our complete licensing guide for more details.
