Who you are booking with
Rent Boat Dubrovnik is run by Technic One d.o.o., the Dubrovnik charter operator founded in 2008 by skipper Nikša Perović and also trading as Garitransfer. Every rental and tour departs from Marina Frapa Dubrovnik, about 15 minutes by taxi from the Old Town, and you book directly with the crew who maintain and skipper the boats.
Nikša Perović founded the company in 2008 and has skippered its boats from the marina since 2010. He holds a Croatian Maritime Directorate skipper licence — Category C and a Sea Rescue certification, and he still runs trips himself along the coast, to the Elaphiti Islands and to the Koločep Blue Cave. Everything leaves from the same pier: the 8 rental boats, the skipper add-on and the 10 boat tours.
The same company also trades as Garitransfer (garitransfer.com) — same OIB, same phone number, same marina, same boats. Rent Boat Dubrovnik is its direct-booking brand, so a booking made here is a booking with the operator itself: no marketplace commission is added, which is why booking direct saves roughly 15–20% against the same boats listed on third-party platforms.

Our fleet
The fleet runs from the 4.5 m licence-free Pasara 5 HP at €150 per half-day to the 8.05 m, 300 HP Quicksilver 805 at €480, with RIBs, a family sun-deck boat and cabin cruisers in between. Every boat is sold self-drive as the base rate; a skipper is an optional add-on of €50–€80 per slot.
One boat can be driven without any licence; the others need a recognised national boating licence or ICC for self-drive — or you add a skipper at checkout. Half-day slots run 10:00 or 14:00 to four hours later, full days 10:00–18:00.

Self-drive boat rental starts at €150 for a 4-hour half-day and €200 for an 8-hour full day on the Pasara 5 HP, rising to €480 and €680 on the Quicksilver 805. Private tours cost €250–€820 per group of up to 12; shared group tours €15–€65 per person. Prices include VAT; fuel is extra except on the Pasara 5 HP.

How the slots work: a half-day is four hours departing at 10:00 or 14:00, a full day is eight hours from 10:00 to 18:00. Fuel is included on the Pasara 5 HP only; on every other boat the amount you use is settled at the marina when you return, so a morning around Lokrum costs less in fuel than a full day in the Elaphiti Islands. Prices are the same whether you book online or by WhatsApp, and there is no booking fee.

A private four-hour speedboat trip from Marina Frapa to the Koločep Blue Cave in the Elaphiti Islands, with the Green Cave and a snorkelling stop on the way back. The 10:00 departure reaches the cave during its brightest light. Skipper, fuel, safety kit and snorkelling masks are included — €280 for your group of up to 12.
Koločep, Lopud and Šunj sandy beach in one private day

Four shared departures leave Marina Frapa on boats capped at 12 guests: the 45-minute Panorama ride past the Old Town walls at €15, the 2-hour sunset tour at €30, the 4-hour Koločep Blue Cave trip at €60 (children €30) and the 9-hour Elaphiti Islands day with lunch included at €65 (children €30). Skipper, fuel and safety equipment are included.

The quickest and cheapest way to see Dubrovnik from the sea: a shared 45-minute boat ride from Marina Frapa along the Lapad coast to the Old Town walls, Fort Lovrijenac and Lokrum, and back. Hourly departures from 11:00 to 18:00. €15 per person, skipper and fuel included, up to 12 guests.

Where we go
From the pier at Marina Frapa, Lokrum is about 10 minutes away, Koločep and the Elaphiti Islands about 25, Cavtat about 40, Mljet National Park around 75 and Korčula or Hvar roughly 110–120 minutes each way on the fastest boats. Half-day rentals suit the first three; the long runs need a full day or a skippered tour.
Boat times are approximate, at the cruising speed of the faster boats in the fleet; the 8-knot Pasara takes considerably longer and is best kept to Lokrum and the city coast. For opening hours, events and ferry timetables in the city itself, the Dubrovnik Tourist Board (tzdubrovnik.hr) is the official source.
Lokrum is the forested nature reserve that sits directly opposite Dubrovnik Old Town, about 10 minutes by boat from Marina Frapa. The island has a botanical garden, the ruins of a medieval Benedictine monastery, Fort Royal on its summit, free-roaming peacocks and the Dead Sea — a small saltwater lake linked to the open sea. Rocky coves on the seaward side make easy swim stops, and from the water you get the classic view of the city walls and Fort Lovrijenac.

The Elaphiti Islands are the small archipelago north-west of Dubrovnik — Koločep, Lopud and Šipan are the three inhabited islands, and the nearest, Koločep, is about 25 minutes by boat from Marina Frapa. Koločep and Lopud have no cars at all. Lopud is known for Šunj, a rare sandy beach in a shallow bay, and its 15th-century Franciscan monastery; Šipan, the largest island, has a harbour village at each end — Suđurađ in the east and a second one in the west — with waterfront konobas for lunch.
The Blue Cave we visit is on the cliffs of Koločep in the Elaphiti Islands, about 25 minutes from Marina Frapa — not the Biševo Blue Cave in central Dalmatia, which is over 200 km up the coast. Sunlight entering below the waterline lights the cave an intense blue, strongest around midday between 11:00 and 13:00 when the sun is high. The cave is entered by swimming from the boat, so it suits confident swimmers; the surrounding rock coves are clear enough for snorkelling afterwards.
Mljet is the long, green island south-west of the Pelješac peninsula; its western third has been a national park since 1960. The park's centrepiece is a pair of saltwater lakes, Veliko jezero and Malo jezero, connected to the sea by a narrow channel, with the 12th-century Benedictine monastery on St Mary islet in the larger lake. Boats arrive at Polače or Pomena, and a park entry ticket — set by the park authority and not included in our tour price — covers the lakes, the paths and the islet boat.

Korčula town sits on a small peninsula at the eastern tip of Korčula island, facing the Pelješac peninsula across a narrow channel. Its old town is a compact grid of stone lanes inside Venetian-era walls, laid out in a herringbone pattern to break the wind, with St Mark's Cathedral at the centre and the house traditionally claimed as Marco Polo's birthplace nearby. The Pelješac shore opposite grows the Plavac Mali red wines of Dingač and Postup, and the channel beaches make good swim stops on the way.
Hvar town faces south-west across a sheltered harbour towards the Pakleni islands, a chain of low, pine-covered islets with clear coves that make the best swim stops on this trip. The town itself has a Venetian-era arsenal and main square, St Stephen's Cathedral and the Fortica fortress above the rooftops, while the island's interior is known for its lavender. It is the furthest destination we run from Dubrovnik, which is why it is reserved for the fastest boats in the fleet and a full 8-hour day.
Cavtat is the small harbour town south of Dubrovnik at the edge of the Konavle region, built on the wooded Rat peninsula between two sheltered bays. The seafront promenade is lined with palms and café terraces, and a short climb above the town leads to the Račić family mausoleum by the sculptor Ivan Meštrović. Reaching it by boat means running the whole Dubrovnik coastline — past the Old Town walls, Lokrum and the cliffs below the airport road — with swim stops in the bays on either side of the peninsula.
All seven are reached from Marina Frapa Dubrovnik; the Old Town walls, Fort Lovrijenac and the Lapad coast are on the way to every one of them.
When to go
The season runs April to October, with peak demand from June to September. The sea is warmest in August and September, mornings are usually the calmest before the afternoon breeze builds, and the Koločep Blue Cave is brightest between 11:00 and 13:00. May, June and late September give warm days with fewer boats on the water.
Time of day matters as much as the month. The 10:00 half-day and the full-day slot leave in the calm of the morning; the 14:00 half-day runs into the softer afternoon light along the walls; and the Blue Cave is at its bluest when the sun is high, so aim to be inside it between 11:00 and 13:00.
April
The marina reopens for the season and the coast is at its quietest. The sea is still cool for long swims, so April suits the Panorama and sunset tours, skippered runs along the Old Town walls and self-drive half-days to Lokrum more than full island days. Wind is more changeable than in summer, so we watch the DHMZ marine forecast closely and tell you honestly if a date looks unsuitable.
May
Days are long and warm, the islands are at their greenest and the water around Koločep and Lopud is clear and uncrowded. Morning slots are easy to get, and a full day in the Elaphiti Islands works well before the summer crowds arrive. The sea is warming but still fresh — swimmers who feel the cold tend to prefer June onwards.
June
Peak demand starts in June. The sea is warm enough for long swim stops and the days are the longest of the year: the sun sets after 20:00, so evening cruises return in golden light rather than at the moment of sunset. Book a few days ahead for the 10:00 departures, and take the morning Blue Cave slot for the brightest light.
July
July is the busiest month at the marina and the hottest on the water. Mornings are usually calm and the afternoon breeze builds after lunch, so the 10:00 slot gives the smoothest ride to the islands and puts you in the Koločep Blue Cave during its brightest light, between 11:00 and 13:00. Book several days ahead, especially for the larger boats.
August
The sea is at its warmest in August and September and the marina is at its fullest. Book ahead for the 10:00 slot; if the morning departures are gone, the 14:00 half-day or an evening cruise runs into the best light along the walls. Summer thunderstorms are usually short-lived — if DHMZ issues a marine wind warning for your day, you are refunded in full.
September
Warm sea, fewer boats, calmer afternoons and sunsets that now coincide with the return of the evening tours: September is the month regular guests pick. It is also the best time for the long private days to Mljet National Park, Korčula and Hvar, when the channel crossings are most often smooth and the towns are quieter.
October
The season runs to the end of October. The sea still carries the summer warmth, the Old Town is quieter and a calm October day on Lokrum or in the Elaphiti Islands is as good as any in July. Mornings are cooler and the forecast matters more, so we confirm the day before by WhatsApp and move you to a better day whenever we can.

Every one of the 8 boats is sold self-drive as the base rate, with a skipper as an optional add-on of €50–€80 per slot. Boats under 5 m with engines up to 5 kW (our Pasara 5 HP) need no licence under Croatian law. Every other boat needs a recognised national boating licence or ICC for self-drive — or you add one of our skippers. The licence categories are set by the Croatian Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure (mmpi.gov.hr). Tours always include the skipper, so no licence is ever needed for a tour.
Half-day rentals depart at 10:00 or 14:00 and last four hours; full days depart at 10:00 and return by 18:00. Tours have fixed departure times, shown on each tour page and in the price table. Private tours are priced per group of up to 12; shared tours per person, with a child rate where the tour offers one.
Pay securely online by card through Stripe Checkout, or by card or cash at the marina by prior arrangement. You receive a confirmation email with the booking details, a Google Maps pin for the marina and a contact number. Prices are in euros with VAT included, and there is no booking fee.
Be at the pier 30 minutes before departure for the safety briefing and, on self-drive rentals, the licence check — bring the original licence card or certificate. Parking is available at Marina Frapa. The marina is about 15 minutes by taxi from the Old Town.

Self-drive boat rental in Dubrovnik with Rent Boat Dubrovnik starts at €150 for a half-day (4 hours) on the no-licence Pasara 5 HP and €200 for a full day. Larger self-drive boats run €220–€480 per half-day and €330–€680 per full day. A skipper adds €50 per half-day or €70–€80 per full day.
Half-day slots run 10:00–14:00 or 14:00–18:00 and full-day slots 10:00–18:00. Fuel is included on the Pasara 5 HP; on every other boat it is charged on top according to what you actually use and settled at the marina on return. Prices are in euros, shown with the date they were last updated, and are the same whether you book online or by WhatsApp.
Only for boats over 5 metres or with engines above 5 kW. Croatian law lets anyone operate a boat under 5 m with an engine up to 5 kW without a licence, so our Pasara 5 HP needs none. Every other boat needs a recognised national boating licence or ICC for self-drive — or you add one of our skippers.
Bring the original licence card or certificate with you on the day; we check it at the marina before the safety briefing. If you are unsure whether your national certificate is recognised in Croatia, send us a photo of it by WhatsApp before booking and we will tell you plainly.
Yes. Every boat in our Marina Frapa fleet is offered self-drive as the base rate, and a skipper is an optional add-on rather than a requirement. The Pasara 5 HP is licence-free; the Barracuda, Fisher, Jeanneau and Quicksilver boats need a recognised boating licence or ICC before you take the helm yourself.
Every self-drive rental starts with a safety briefing at the pier covering the boat, the life jackets, the anchor and the no-go areas close to the Old Town walls. If you would rather not drive, add a skipper at checkout: €50 per half-day or €70 per full day (€80 full day on the Fisher 20).
Our season runs April to October, with peak demand June to September. The sea is warmest in August and September, and mornings are usually the calmest, before the afternoon breeze builds. For the Koločep Blue Cave, aim to be inside between 11:00 and 13:00, when the sun is high enough to light the water.
May, June and late September give you warm days with fewer boats on the water; July and August are the busiest weeks, so book a few days ahead for the 10:00 slot. Whatever the month, we watch the DHMZ marine forecast and will tell you honestly if your date looks unsuitable.
All Rent Boat Dubrovnik boats and tours depart from Marina Frapa Dubrovnik at Lapadska obala 21a, in the Gruž–Lapad area of the city — not Marina Frapa Rogoznica near Šibenik. The marina is about 15 minutes by taxi from the Old Town, and parking is available at the marina.
We send a Google Maps pin and a contact number with your confirmation email. From the marina pier you are on open water within a couple of minutes: the Old Town walls coastline and Lokrum are about 10 minutes away, Koločep and the Elaphiti Islands about 25.
Marina Frapa Dubrovnik is roughly 4 km from the Old Town — about 15 minutes by taxi, or by local bus towards Gruž and Lapad. It sits on the Lapad side of Gruž harbour, so from the water you reach the Old Town walls coastline and Lokrum within about 10 minutes of leaving the pier.
A private full-day Elaphiti Islands tour (8 hours, departing 10:00, up to 12 guests) costs €500 per boat with skipper, fuel and safety kit included. The shared Elaphiti group tour with lunch is €65 per adult and €30 per child for a 9-hour day from 09:00. Self-drive rentals can also reach Koločep in about 25 minutes.
The private tour visits Koločep and Lopud, with time at Šunj sandy beach and a lunch stop ashore. The shared tour includes lunch in a village restaurant and returns to Marina Frapa at 18:00.
The private Blue Cave & Snorkelling tour is €280 per group for 4 hours, departing 10:00 or 14:00, with skipper and fuel included. The shared Blue Cave group tour is €60 per adult and €30 per child for the same 4-hour slots. Both visit the Koločep Blue Cave in the Elaphiti Islands, 25 minutes from Marina Frapa.
This is the Koločep Blue Cave — not the Biševo Blue Cave in central Dalmatia, which is over 200 km from Dubrovnik and cannot be visited on a day trip from here. The 10:00 departure puts you in the cave during the brightest light.
Fuel is included on the Pasara 5 HP only. On every other rental boat, fuel is charged on top according to what you actually use and settled at the marina when you return. All private and group tours are different: their prices include the skipper, fuel and safety equipment, so there is nothing to pay on return.
Because rental fuel is charged per use, a short run to Lokrum and the Old Town walls costs less than a full day out in the Elaphiti Islands. Ask the skipper or pier staff for a rough estimate for your planned route before you leave.
If DHMZ, the Croatian Meteorological and Hydrological Service, issues a marine wind warning for your day, we cancel and refund 100% — even inside 24 hours. Adriatic weather is often local and short-lived, so we also offer to move you to the next available slot free of charge whenever that is possible.
We follow the official DHMZ marine forecast at meteo.hr rather than a phone app, and we never send a boat out in conditions we would not take our own families into. If a warning is issued the evening before, we contact you by WhatsApp and email before you set off for the marina.
You can cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before departure for a full refund. Weather cancellations are refunded in full at any time. Cancellations inside 24 hours for other reasons are non-refundable, but we will rebook you into the next available slot free of charge whenever we can.
Refunds go back to the card you paid with through Stripe. To cancel or move a booking, reply to your confirmation email or message us on WhatsApp at +385 91 600 1201 with your booking date and name.

A rental gives you the boat for a half-day (4 h) or full day (8 h) — self-drive or with an optional skipper — and you choose where to go; fuel is charged per use except on the Pasara. Yes. Our private Hvar Island tour is an 8-hour day departing Marina Frapa at 10:00 and returning at 18:00, priced at €600 per group for up to 12 guests with skipper and fuel included. Hvar is the furthest destination we run, roughly two hours each way, so it is reserved for our fastest boats.
Meeting point
Every rental and every tour departs from the same pier. The marina sits on the Lapad side of Gruž harbour, about 15 minutes by taxi (roughly 4 km) from the Old Town.
By taxi from the Old Town it is about 15 minutes along the coast through Gruž; ask for Marina Frapa on Lapadska obala. From the Gruž port and cruise terminal the marina is a short ride along the same waterfront, and local buses towards Lapad stop nearby. Parking is available at Marina Frapa. Please be at the pier 30 minutes before departure.
