Sunset Boat Cruise in Dubrovnik — Private Charter Guide

Why a Sunset Cruise Is the Best Evening in Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik’s Old Town walls glow orange-gold at sunset — and the only way to see this properly is from the water. A private sunset cruise takes you along the entire western wall, past Fort Bokar and Lovrijenac, with the sun dropping behind the Elafiti Islands on the horizon.

Most group sunset tours cost €50-70 per person, last 90 minutes, and pack 20+ people on a boat. A private rental from RentBoatDubrovnik.com gives you the same views with total privacy, your own music, your own drinks, and flexible timing — often at a lower per-person cost for groups of 3 or more.

Best Boats for a Sunset Cruise

  • Barracuda 530 — €180/day (half-day from ~€120). Seats 5, open layout perfect for photos and drinks at anchor.
  • Quicksilver 675 — €300/day (half-day from ~€195). Seats 7, sun deck at the bow for the best sunset seats.
  • Cap Camarat 6.5 — €300/day. T-top shade, premium comfort. The most photogenic boat in the fleet.
  • Quicksilver 755 SD — €400/day. Cabin cruiser, seats 8. Ideal for a special occasion or group celebration.

Half-day afternoon rentals (4 hours) work perfectly for sunset cruises. Check our pricing page for half-day rates.

Suggested Sunset Cruise Route

  • 17:00 — Depart Marina Frapa, head east along the coast
  • 17:20 — Pass Lapad Bay and Babin Kuk beaches
  • 17:40 — Swim stop at Betina Cave — sheltered cove with crystal-clear water
  • 18:15 — Cruise past Fort Lovrijenac and along the Old Town walls
  • 18:30 — Anchor off Lokrum Island with the city walls in view
  • 19:00 — Watch the sunset as the walls turn golden. This is the photo moment.
  • 19:30 — Slow cruise back to Marina Frapa as the city lights come on
  • 20:00 — Return to marina

Sunset times vary by month: June-July around 20:30, August around 20:00, September around 19:15. We recommend departing 2.5 hours before sunset.

What to Bring on Your Sunset Cruise

  • Drinks and snacks: Bring your own wine, beer, or prosecco. We provide a cooler on request.
  • Bluetooth speaker: All boats have charging ports. Create the playlist in advance.
  • Light jacket: The temperature drops quickly after sunset on the water.
  • Camera: The golden hour light on the city walls is extraordinary. A phone is fine but bring a waterproof case.
  • Swimsuit: The pre-sunset swim stop is the highlight for many guests.

Combine with a Full Day on the Water

Many of our guests book a full-day rental and end it with the sunset cruise. Popular combinations:

A full-day rental is better value than two half-days and gives you maximum flexibility. First-time visitor? Read our beginner tips before you go.

How much does a private sunset cruise in Dubrovnik cost?

A half-day private sunset cruise starts at approximately €120 with the Barracuda 530 (seats 5). For a group of 4, that is €30 per person — less than half the price of most group sunset tours.

Do I need to book a sunset cruise in advance?

In July and August, book 2-3 days ahead as sunset time slots are the most popular. In June and September, same-day bookings are usually available. Call +385 91 600 1201.

What is the best time of year for a sunset cruise?

Late June through mid-September offers the warmest water and latest sunsets. September is particularly beautiful — fewer boats on the water, warm golden light, and the sea is at its warmest.

Can I bring my own food and drinks?

Yes. Bring whatever you like — wine, cheese, snacks, a full picnic. We provide a cooler on request at no charge. Some guests order takeaway from Dubrovnik restaurants and bring it aboard.
